Ephesians: Week 22

What does it actually mean to be ready? Not just ready in theory, but ready in the way a soldier is ready -- feet planted, armor secured, standing firm against whatever comes. In Ephesians 6, we find a picture of spiritual readiness that goes far deeper than we might expect. The sandals Paul describes were not casual footwear. They were cleated, gripping the ground, built for traction in the middle of a fight. When we put on the gospel of peace as our foundation, we are not just carrying good news -- we are standing in it, rooted in it, and prepared to move because of it. The question worth sitting with is an honest one: when did we last let that gospel move through us toward someone else? The good news was never meant to stop with us. It came to us on its way to someone else, and our feet are meant to carry it there. This message calls us to examine our week, our conversations, and our habits -- and to ask whether the gospel of peace is something we are actively living out or quietly keeping to ourselves.
