Ephesians: Week 14

What does it mean to walk as children of light in a world that has grown comfortable with darkness? Drawing from Ephesians chapter 5, we are invited into a searching and honest conversation about identity, obedience, and the unmistakable difference that genuine faith should make in our daily lives. Paul's words remind us that we were once darkness, but now we are light in the Lord, and that shift is not merely positional, it is meant to be visible. The passage challenges us to ask a simple but penetrating question throughout each day: does this please the Lord? That question, applied to what we watch, what we say, how we react when someone cuts us off in traffic, or how we treat a stranger at the door, becomes the filter through which a life of light is actually lived. We are also reminded that exposing darkness is less about pointing fingers and more about being present enough, kind enough, and trustworthy enough that people who are hurting will walk toward the light we carry rather than away from it. The message is not comfortable, but it is deeply hopeful, because the same passage that warns us about God's seriousness toward sin also promises us that Christ will shine on us. That word 'will' carries no uncertainty. It is a guarantee written into the fabric of Scripture, and it means that whatever dark season we are walking through, the light is coming.
