Ephesians: Week 23

Oct 11, 2026  •  Jerry Davis

What if the armor we have been given to face life's battles is not meant to be worn alone? This message pulls us deep into the final pieces of the full armor of God found in Ephesians 6, and it challenges us to rethink everything we thought we knew about spiritual warfare. The shield of faith, for example, is not the small, personal buckler we might picture. It is a massive, door-sized Roman shield, designed to interlock with the shields of fellow soldiers, creating a wall of protection that covers not just the front but every angle, including the back. That image alone reframes the entire conversation about faith. Our faith was never meant to be a solo endeavor. It is communal, ancient, and most powerful when we link it together with the faith of those walking beside us. The helmet of salvation reminds us that the battle for our minds is real and that protecting our thoughts is not separate from our spiritual health but central to it. And the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God, invites us into a practical and deeply personal relationship with Scripture, not as an overwhelming library we must master all at once, but as specific, living words that God plants in our hearts for the exact moments we need them most. This is a message about waking up to the reality of the battle around us, linking up with the people God has placed in our lives, and standing firm together.
