This Palm Sunday message invites us into the beautiful intersection of Old Testament tradition and New Testament fulfillment, revealing how God has been painting pictures of redemption throughout all of Scripture. We discover that when Jesus entered Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, it wasn't random timing—it was the exact day Jewish families would select their Passover lamb, a spotless sacrifice to be examined for four days before being offered. Jesus, our Lamb of God, entered His Father's house and was examined for four days before His crucifixion at the precise hour the Passover lambs were being slaughtered in the temple. The third cup of Passover—the cup of redemption—reminds us that from Genesis chapter two onward, after humanity's fall, the entire biblical narrative is God's love story of redemption. He longed to walk with us again as He did in the garden, and He orchestrated every detail to make that possible. This message challenges us to examine what kind of king we're looking for: a genie who grants wishes and removes problems, or the King who walks alongside us through difficulty, promising His presence now and on the other side of our trials. The people waving palm branches were looking for a political deliverer, but Jesus came as the answer to every spiritual problem we face. As we approach Easter, we're reminded that we view this story through the lens of the empty tomb—a perspective those original palm-waving worshipers didn't yet have. Their understanding would be transformed in just days when Sunday came and death was defeated.
